and all that is for us right now is the cowboys. >> this win is the sixth in a row for the redskins. the longest winning streak in 15 years and puts them at 9-6 on the season. the redskins are looking for their first nfc east title since 1999. it's simple here. if they win against the cowboys, they win the division. but they can lose next week and still sneak into the postseason. if they lose, they need nnesota and chicago to lose as well, which would put all three teams at 9-7. the redskins own the tie breaker over those two teams. because of the importance of this game, the time of the redskins and cowboys matchup has changed. kickoff set for 8:20 on sunday night. the final game of the 2012 regular season. you can watch the redskins take on dallas on sunday right here on nbc 4. >>> if you still have some holiday shopping to do, get ready for a busy day. it's christmas eve and shoppers have the last chance to do that last-minute shopping which means stores everywhere will be very, very busy. news4's melissa mollet is live this morning in alexandria where some stores are already ope

it. this comes as reports of the government preparing to use chemical weapons on the civilians there. since march of 2011, 40,000 people have been killed in the country's civil war. >>> a u.s. capitol police officer is in the hospital this morning after being hit by a car. this happened around 8:30 last night around massachusetts avenue in northeast washington. we're told the officer was hit during a traffic stop. her condition has not been released. so far no charges have been filed against the driver. >>> a video posted online is sparking an investigation of a metro bus driver. check it out. this video appears to show the driver holding and possibly even reading a newspaper behind the wheel. the rider who shot this video on unsuck d.c. metro posted it online. metro will start monitoring some of its employees next year, including bus drivers, to make sure they get enough sleep. the transit agency will ask those who maintain buses and trains to log their sleep habits and wear a motion detecting advice. metro is trying to combat fatigue after a 2011 study found those worked longer hou

it was pretty exciting for us. >> president obama and lawmakers now have less than four weeks to reach a deal to avoid steep tax hikes and spending cuts from taking effect. >>> 4:34 now. melissa mollet is at the live desk with breaking news. good morning, melissa. >> good morning. sirens are going off. a tsunami warning in japan. take a look at this video we just got into the newsroom. the 7.2 magnitude earthquake has hit off the northern coast. you can see that trafblling camera moving as that quake hits. it shook and swayed buildings for several minutes. residents being told to flee to higher ground right now. at this point, no reports of any damage or injuries. this was the same region that was hit by a massive quake and tsunami in march of 2011. in that quake and tsunami, 19,000 people were killed or went missing. we'll keep an eye on this for you. >>> news outlets are reporting that north korea may set off a long range rocket as early as monday. the country is reportedly fueling the rocket, but satellite images show that heavy snowfall may have slowed down preparations. north korea wants
